China-Russia-India ties crucial to global stability, China’s Foreign Ministry says

BEIJING, December 8. Maintaining strong relations between China, Russia, and India serves the interests of all three nations and acts as a cornerstone of global security, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated, commenting on the outcomes of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to India.

“China, Russia, and India are major emerging economies and key players in the Global South. Strengthening these ties not only benefits the three countries but also supports peace, stability, and prosperity both regionally and globally,” the diplomat emphasized.

When asked about the prospects of China-India relations, Jiakun reiterated Beijing’s readiness to resume dialogue.

“China is prepared to work with India, adopting a strategic and long-term perspective, to foster sustainable, healthy, and stable development of bilateral relations,” Jiakun stated.

On India-China relations- currently on the path of normalization after the Eastern Ladakh confrontation which resulted in freeze in ties in 2020-the Foreign Ministry Spokesman said China wants to promote sustained and strong ties with India with a long term perspective.

China stands ready to work with India to view and handle bilateral relations from a strategic height and long-term perspective promote sustained, strong and steady development of ties to benefit both countries and its people and make a due contribution to peace and prosperity in Asia and beyond, he said.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson reiterated that maintaining strong relations among the three nations serves the three nations own interests and also contributes to regional and global peace, security, stability and prosperity.

Stating that China welcomes Putin’s recent visit to India calling it a positive signal for cooperation, among major Global South economies, Chinese Foreign Ministry said India, China and Russia are emerging economies and important members of the Global South, offering official response to Putin’s visit to India.

On December 5, Putin wrapped up a two-day state visit to India. In New Delhi, he held a series of bilateral talks, participated in a Russian-Indian business forum, and laid a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial. Several bilateral agreements were signed following the visit.
