Lockheed Martin Delivers First US Air Force TPY-4 Radar

Completes Early Phase Testing for 3DELRR System

SYRACUSE, NY, April. Lockheed Martin delivered the first US Air Force TPY-4 radar after successfully completing Early Phase Testing, marking a significant milestone for the Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar (3DELRR) program.

“The successful completion of early phase testing and delivery of the first TPY-4 radar system underscores our dedication to providing the US Air Force with cutting-edge, high-performance systems that meet their evolving requirements and expectations,” said Rick Cordaro, Vice President of Lockheed Martin’s Radar and Sensor Systems. “The 3DELRR program is of the utmost importance to air surveillance and defense capabilities worldwide, as well as defending the nation.”

Why it matters

  • The first delivery of TPY-4 to the US Air Force represents the numerous radars to be delivered and fielded as part of the 3DELRR program.
  • TPY-4’s delivery marks the beginning of government testing.
  • The delivery coincides with the award of a contract in a series of radar purchases by the US Air Force, as a part of the 3DELRR program.

What is TPY-4?

  • Ready Today, Prepared for Tomorrow: The radar system is fully digital at every transmit/receive element with an unprecedented software-defined sensor architecture, enabling the radar to rapidly adapt to emerging threats and missions.
  • Detect and Deter: TPY-4 detects smaller, harder-to-detect, next-generation threats. The radar can see targets in jamming and provides long-range early warning for missiles, allowing for more rapid responses to emerging threats.
  • Transportability: The system is available in both fixed and highly mobile variants and is transportable via C-130, C-17, truck, rail or helicopter. With TPY-4, the operator does not have to compromise on performance or transportability

Proven Radar Experience

With broad and deep experience developing and delivering advanced radar solutions to customers, Lockheed Martin’s high-performing, highly reliable radar systems specialize in providing advanced early warning, counter-target acquisition, situational awareness and integrated air and missile defense. Lockheed Martin radars are designed with a high degree of commonality, are available in highly mobile configurations, operate in all environments and are deployed worldwide. It’s why Lockheed Martin’s radars are the choice of more than 45 nations on six continents.
