Modi speaks with Nepal’s interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, assures support for peace and stability
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 18 held a telephone conversation with Nepal’s interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, congratulating her on her appointment and reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
During the call, Modi conveyed best wishes on behalf of the government and people of India and expressed condolences over the loss of lives in recent protests in Nepal, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office. He assured Karki of India’s full support for the country’s efforts to restore peace, stability, and progress for its citizens.
The Indian Prime Minister also extended greetings to Nepal ahead of its upcoming National Day.
Karki, who leads Nepal’s interim government, thanked Modi for India’s steadfast support and reciprocated his desire to deepen the “special ties” between the two neighbours.
Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact as Nepal navigates its current political transition.
