DAHLGREN, Va., Sep 16, 2026. Northrop Grumman recently completed an aeroballistic test for a new 50mm projectile for Raid Hunter™, its Gun-Based Air Defense (GBAD) system, validating projectile performance and generating critical flight data to advance its development.
Fired from an XM913 Chain Gun®, the test rounds generated high-fidelity data for nearly every shot, confirming pre-test predictions and performance expectations.
The results advance Northrop Grumman’s development of a new guided, proximity-fuzed 50mm round for Raid Hunter. Designed to help address the growing challenge of defeating large numbers of aerial threats, Raid Hunter provides a scalable and cost-effective short-range solution designed to defeat mass mixed raids and help close gaps in short-range defense capability.
