Ongoing Rescue Operation by Indian Coast Guard, Navsari District

New Delhi, July 14. The district of Navsari and adjacent areas have been marooned by exceptional heavy rainfall in last few days.A request was received from the Office of Commissioner of Relief, Govt. of Gujarat, Gandhinagar for assistance to rescue locals of village Golvad and Fadvel village, Chikhali Taluka, near Kaveri river in Navsari District trapped due to flash floods on banks of river Kaveri.

In extremely inclement weather conditions and marginal visibility, the Indian Coast GuardAir Station Daman swiftly pressed into action andpromptlylaunchedCG Chetak helicopter CG 802 at 1255 hrs.In the extremely challenging weather conditions of 20 to 25kns of winds, blinding rain and marginal visibility, the aircraft reached the area and after extensive search a total of06 precious lives battling the weather and stranded in various locations inaccessible by NDRF team were saved and evacuated to safe locations. The rescue operations is in progress  in coordination with NDRF and State Disaster Management team.
