Rajnath Singh hails Operation Sindoor as model of joint warfare at Commanders’ Conference in Jaipur
Jaipur, May 8. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on May 8 described Operation Sindoor as a defining example of the Indian armed forces’ ability to execute a swift, precise and coordinated response to protect national interests, while urging top military commanders to prepare for future conflicts shaped by technology and hybrid threats.
Addressing the second edition of the Joint Commanders’ Conference in Jaipur, Singh characterised Operation Sindoor as a short-duration, deep-penetration and high-impact mission that demonstrated India’s capacity to compel its adversary to back down. He said the operation reflected the country’s evolving military ethos, growing capabilities and collective resolve.
The Defence Minister stressed that the rapidly changing global security environment demands enhanced preparedness in emerging domains such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, data analytics and secure communication networks. He noted that future wars would increasingly involve hybrid threats and simultaneous operations across cyber, space, electromagnetic and cognitive domains, requiring integrated national readiness.
Highlighting the importance of jointness among the Army, Navy and Air Force, Singh said synergy and innovation would be as critical as firepower in determining the outcomes of future wars. He praised the progress made in integration and technological adoption across the three services and called jointness a central pillar of ongoing military transformation worldwide.
Singh also advised commanders to cultivate the “element of surprise” to maintain a strategic advantage over adversaries, while remaining alert to potential surprises from the enemy side.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to modernising the armed forces, he said special emphasis is being placed on research in niche and advanced technology areas and the induction of state-of-the-art platforms and weapon systems.
During the conference, the Defence Minister released a documentary on Operation Sindoor, along with the Hindi version of Vision 2047 and the Joint Doctrine for Integrated Communication Architecture. These documents are intended to enhance doctrinal clarity, interoperability and integrated communication across the armed forces in future multidomain operations.
The conference, themed ‘Military Capability in New Domains’, brought together senior leadership from the Ministry of Defence and the three services to deliberate on emerging security challenges, technological transformation, multidomain warfare and indigenous innovation. Demonstrations of advanced systems for intelligence fusion, operational planning and information management were also showcased, underlining the increasing integration of cutting-edge technologies into joint operational structures.
