Indian Navy to spotlight cutting-edge defence technologies at Swavlamban 2025
New Delhi, November 20. The Indian Navy is gearing up for the fourth edition of its flagship Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO) seminar, Swavlamban 2025, with senior leadership underscoring its growing push for home-grown defence technologies.
At a curtain-raiser press conference held here on November 20, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan said the two-day event, scheduled for November 25-26 at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi, will spotlight the Navy’s expanding innovation ecosystem and the role of Indian industry in strengthening maritime defence. This year’s edition places a sharper emphasis on emerging and disruptive technologies as the Navy adapts to rapidly evolving security challenges.
Highlighting the theme, ‘Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation’, VAdm Vatsayan noted that the Navy has made steady progress toward ‘Aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) in defence, driven by partnerships with industry, startups, and academia. Swavlamban 2025, he said, will continue to promote collaborative, technology-driven solutions for complex operational needs.
The seminar will feature dedicated exhibition zones showcasing success stories from the Navy’s innovation programmes, including systems developed from concept to induction. Several sessions will delve into policy reforms and procedural improvements aimed at accelerating the adoption of indigenous technologies. Expert panels are expected to explore key trends in disruptive and next-generation maritime technologies.
A special interactive session with venture capital firms will examine funding avenues to support high-potential defence innovations. The event will also see the launch of the ‘Innovathon’, the release of the latest Compendium of Technology Challenges and Problem Statements, and the unveiling of Swavlamban 4.0 along with the Armament Indigenisation Compendium.
Designed as a platform for innovators, MSMEs, startups, academia, and industry leaders, Swavlamban 2025 seeks to stimulate dialogue, collaboration, and breakthroughs that will shape the Navy’s future capability development.
