India, Oman commit to deeper defence industrial cooperation at New Delhi meeting
New Delhi, November 24. India and Oman have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding defence cooperation, with a sharper focus on defence industrial collaboration, during the 13th Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC) meeting held in New Delhi on November 24.
The meeting was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Oman’s Secretary General in the Ministry of Defence Mohammed Bin Naseer Bin Ali Al Zaabi. The two sides reviewed ongoing engagements across military domains and explored new avenues to strengthen strategic ties.
Officials exchanged views on regional and global security matters, particularly developments in the Indian Ocean Region, where both nations share maritime and security interests.
A major element of the discussions centred on advancing joint defence production. The two sides emphasised co-development of advanced military platforms, technology sharing, strengthening supply chains, and boosting indigenous manufacturing. Enhanced interoperability and innovation in emerging technologies were also highlighted as priorities to support long-term strategic resilience.
The talks underscored that closer defence industrial cooperation would bolster regional stability, meet shared security objectives, and accelerate sustainable modernisation of their armed forces. Both sides reiterated the importance of maintaining regular high-level dialogue to support the fast-growing partnership.
During his visit, Al Zaabi also met Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan for further discussions on ongoing and future defence collaboration.
India and Oman share a longstanding strategic partnership rooted in strong political, economic, cultural, and defence ties, with key areas of cooperation including maritime security, counter-terrorism, and energy trade.
