Seminar on Women Empowerment through NCC

Mumbai. The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate of Maharashtra conducted a seminar on “Women Empowerment through NCC” at KC College in Mumbai on November 30. A series of lectures on NCC Girl Cadets encompassing their empowerment, safety and security, holistic well being, building skills and fostering leadership were undertaken during the seminar. The Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra Mr. CP Radhakrishnan was the chief guest during the seminar, which was also attended by DG NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh.

The Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra brought out while speaking at the Seminar that “Empowering women through NCC means giving them the tools to lead, contribute, and make meaningful change in their communities and the nation”. Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh also said during his address that “The inclusion of women in NCC has transformed lives and opened doors to new opportunities. We have witnessed numerous success stories of girl cadets excelling in the armed forces, administration, and other spheres of public life”. Other eminent speakers during the seminar included Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Dr Hemlata Bagla, VC HSNC University and Mrs Dipti Mohil Chawla, Addl Secy MoD, Govt. of India. A lecture cum demonstration ‘Walk without Fear’ by an NGO Mission Fightback was also conducted by Col & Mrs Rohit Mishra.

One of the key initiatives of the NCC is its special training programs tailored to boost the leadership qualities of girl cadets, allowing them to serve as role models and inspirations for future generations. The government’s efforts to increase female participation in NCC are visible through various policies and initiatives aimed at encouraging young women to join the corps. The growing number of women cadets in NCC’s leadership roles is a testament to the success of these programs, and the ongoing support for their participation in prestigious events like Republic Day parades and adventure camps. Maj Gen Yogender Singh, ADG NCC Directorate Maharashtra expressed his sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor and all the speakers, participants and attendees for contributing to the success of the Seminar.

Since its inception, the NCC has progressively encouraged and supported the participation of girl cadets, with female enrollment seeing a steady rise over the years. This initiative not only enhances the skills and capabilities of women but also strengthens their position in society by enabling them to become future leaders in various fields, including the armed forces, education, politics, and business.
