India, France push ahead with civil nuclear cooperation at New Delhi talks
New Delhi, September 23. India and France on September 22 reviewed progress in their civil nuclear partnership at the second meeting of the Special Task Force on Civil Nuclear Energy, held in New Delhi. The talks were co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Anne-Marie Descôtes, Secretary-General of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Acording to a statement issued by the External Affairs Ministry, both sides took stock of developments over the past year and agreed to maintain close engagement on key aspects of bilateral nuclear cooperation. They reiterated the importance of collaboration on emerging technologies such as Small and Advanced Modular Reactors (SMRs/AMRs), building on the Declaration of Intent signed in February 2025.
The discussions also covered broader areas of the India-France strategic partnership, including innovation and technology, defence, space, counterterrorism, and cooperation with third countries under trilateral frameworks.
Misri and Descôtes further exchanged views on major international and regional issues, notably the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the evolving situation in West Asia.
