Deutsche Aircraft Advances D328eco Programme

Bangalore. Deutsche Aircraft marked a transformative year in 2025 as its D328eco programme progressed from development to physical realisation, highlighted by the roll-out of its first test aircraft. The company’s next-generation turboprop, designed to evolve the legacy of the Dornier 328 with enhanced efficiency, economics and sustainability, moved decisively from the drawing board to the hangar floor.

The defining moment of the year was the official unveiling of the D328eco prototype, designated TAC 1.The roll-out at Deutsche Aircraft’s headquarters in Oberpfaffenhofen underscored the programme’s progress and represented a major step towards certification and market entry. Positioned as a highly efficient, low-emission solution for short-haul routes, the D328eco is intended to strengthen regional connectivity while supporting the aviation sector’s sustainability objectives.

Industrial Footprint Expands

In parallel with prototype development, Deutsche Aircraft strengthened its industrial infrastructure. A new Berlin office was opened to enhance engagement with European policymakers and institutions as the programme advances toward entry into service.

Significant construction progress was also achieved at Leipzig/Halle Airport, where the D328eco Final Assembly Line (FAL) is taking shape. Following the laying of the cornerstone and the traditional Richtfest ceremony, the fully digital, carbon-neutral facility is nearing structural completion and preparing for fit-out. The site is set to become the central production hub for the aircraft.

In an industry-first application within an aerospace production environment, Jungheinrich has implemented its PowerCube compact storage system and AutoVNA technology at the facility, enabling automated and highly efficient logistics to support sustainable and scalable manufacturing.

Global Supply Chain and Partnerships Strengthened

Deutsche Aircraft expanded its global production footprint in 2025, scaling front and rear fuselage assembly capabilities in Brazil and India through partnerships with Akaer and Dynamatic Technologies.

Following its inaugural Supplier Summit, the company intensified its international engagement, including a prominent presence at the Paris Air Show and the Wings of Opportunity Summit in New Delhi. Outreach activities extended across North America, Australia, Africa and India, positioning the D328eco to meet diverse regional operational requirements.

The programme’s Tier 1 supplier network was finalised during the year. Key partners include Cyient Group, America Data Solutions, Aerodata, Aernnova, Hutchinson, TRIUMPH, Rasakti, Akkodis, Expleo and TEST-FUCHS, forming a supply base intended to ensure high standards of quality, reliability and performance across the aircraft.

As the programme transitions toward production readiness, Deutsche Aircraft is leveraging advanced digital tools, including a 3D virtual twin developed in collaboration with Dassault Systèmes. The technology is expected to support training, testing and certification processes, while offering operators enhanced insight into the aircraft’s systems and performance.

A significant technical milestone was the arrival of the Pratt & Whitney PW127XT-S development engines, which will power TAC 1. The engines are designed to deliver improved fuel efficiency and extended time on wing, contributing to lower operating costs.

The D328eco will also feature the Garmin G5000 PRIME avionics suite, described as the first fully integrated cockpit for a CS-25 aircraft, aimed at providing seamless fleet integration and operational capability.

Research collaborations continued during the year, including work with the German Aerospace Center and VÆRIDION on tests involving the D328 UpLift demonstrator to accelerate the development of innovative aerospace technologies.

Looking ahead, the company plans to focus on ground and systems testing of TAC 1, alongside completion of the Final Assembly Line facility. Increased customer engagement and participation in major industry events are also expected as interest in the D328eco continues to build.
