Modi hails unprecedented growth of India’s defence sector
New Delhi, June 10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that over the past 11 years, India has witnessed remarkable advancements in its defence sector, marked by a clear focus on modernisation and self-reliance in defence production.
Modi expressed pride in the collective resolve of the people of India and the unwavering determination to propel India towards greater self-sufficiency and technological excellence in defence.
Responding to a post on X by MyGovIndia, he stated: “The last 11 years have marked significant changes in our defence sector, with a clear focus on both modernisation and becoming self-reliant when it comes to defence production. It is gladdening to see how the people of India have come together with the resolve of making India stronger! #11YearsOfRakshaShakti.”
In its post, MyGovIndia had stated: “In just 11 years under PM @narendramodi’s visionary leadership, India has revolutionised its defence capabilities, deepened strategic global partnerships, and achieved historic milestones in space exploration. Guided by his resolve for Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the nation has embraced self-reliant innovation and expanded its influence in trade and technology. This is the story of India’s rise as a confident, decisive, and respected global leader – driven by PM Modi’s bold vision and unwavering commitment to a stronger Bharat.”
In a separate post, MyGovIndia stated that ‘Aatmanirbhar’ defence has set new export milestones.
“India’s defence sector is soaring with record-breaking exports, showcasing the strength of self-reliance,” it stated. “Made-in-India weapons, equipment, and technology are reaching over 100 countries, boosting global trust in Bharat’s capabilities.”
The post was accompanied by a graphic depicting the rise in India’s defence export earnings from Rs, 1,940 crore in 2014-25 to Rs. 23, 622 crore in 2024-25.
