Lockheed Martin Wins MDA Contract to Modernize Missile Defense Modeling & Simulation Platform

Lockheed Martin will modernize the US missile defense test environment, moving it to the cloud and expanding the Missile Defense Agency’s engineering capacity

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. Lockheed Martin announced on August 11,  2026 that it has been selected for a contract with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to develop, evolve, modernize and sustain the agency’s Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Objective Simulation Framework (OSF), a virtual testing environment for the United States’ missile defense system. This contract is called M&S Vistas Framework.

Leveraging Lockheed Martin’s digital transformation investment, and partnering closely with MDA’s Directorate of Engineering, which is leading digital transformation across the agency, the M&S Vistas Framework will provide a visionary, next generation capability.

“Missile defense in today’s threat landscape presents an integration challenge across a vast ecosystem,” said Erika Marshall, Vice President of Enterprise Mission Command and Control at Lockheed Martin. “M&S Vistas Framework will deliver software-driven innovation and a transformative testing environment that will efficiently deliver capabilities to our operators, reducing risk and ensuring America and its allies are ready for the threats of tomorrow.”

This program will strengthen layered homeland missile defense capabilities that further integrates design, implementation and testing functions. M&S Vistas Framework builds on Lockheed Martin’s decades of operational missile defense leadership where continuously modernized and fielded systems are advanced through iterative development, data-driven insights and ongoing experimentation to deliver real-time, coordinated responses for warfighters around the globe.
