Agenda highlights: Navigating the future at UMEX and SimTEX 2024

Abu Dhabi, January 19. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, ADNEC Group, in strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, proudly announces the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX), scheduled from January 23 to 25, 2024, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Preceded by an insightful conference on January 22, these exhibitions, are set to convene industry leaders, innovators, and experts from the unmanned systems and simulation sectors worldwide.

The sixth edition of the event is set to witness an exceptional turnout of local suppliers in the unmanned systems sector, showcasing the region’s growing strength and innovation. EDGE Group, UMEX and SimTEX 2024’s strategic sponsor is anticipated to have an imposing and expertly designed stand, highlighting their leadership in the industry. Alongside this, a remarkable presence of international companies is expected, presenting their latest advancements and adding a global dimension to the event. Day 1 – Tuesday, 23 January 2024

10:00 – 15:00: MoD Coding Challenge Competition begins where Emiratis have the chance to showcase their programming skills.

11:00 – 11:30: Official Opening Ceremony, is set to be an impressive display, combining the majesty of ceremonial traditions with advanced technological exhibits. This grand opening event will mark the start of these flagship exhibitions.

12:00 – 16:00: Introduction of UMEX Talks at Onsite Stage Hall 6, creates a unique platform where both civilian and military companies can converge, offering parties an opportunity to showcase their latest technologies, products, and services.

13:00 – 16:00: Inaugural UMEX NEXT_GEN Pitch Competition for startups at Pitch Stage Hall 6. This platform elevates the unmanned systems industry, connecting startups with industry leaders for networking, partnerships, and investment opportunities.

13:30 – 14:30 & 14:45 – 15:45: Live Demonstrations for Land and Maritime Systems, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, unmanned vehicles from local and international companies will showcase their versatility and manoeuvrability in diverse environments.

Day 2 – Wednesday, 24 January 2024

10:00 – 15:00: Live Flying Demo at Tilal Swaihan Area, showcasing various environments and applications.

11:00 – 16:00: Continuation of UMEX Talks discussions at Onsite Stage Hall 6.

13:00 – 16:00: UMEX NEXT_GEN Pitch Competition resumes for startups.

Day 3 – Thursday, 25 January 2024

10:00 – 14:00: Final day of MoD Coding Challenge Competition.

12:00 – 13:00: Closing stages of UMEX NEXT_GEN Pitch Competition.

13:00 – 15:15: Final Live Demonstrations for Land and Maritime Systems.

Each day will conclude with an official Press Conference scheduled from 15:00 to 16:00. This will be followed by a daily performance by the Ministry of Defence Music Band, designed to provide an uplifting end to the day for attendees.

The precursor to these exhibitions, the UMEX SimTEX Conference 2024, themed ‘Soaring to New Heights: Impact of New Technologies in Evolving Unmanned Systems Era’, is set for Monday, 22 January. It features a stellar lineup of speakers from academia and industry, discussing AI’s impact on autonomous systems, disruptive technologies, cybersecurity, and regulatory aspects of Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems (LAWS).
