Navaratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics eye Orders to the tune of Rs. 80,000 crore during the Current Fiscal- B P Srivastava, CMD

  • Navaratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) targets to achieve orders to the tune of Rs. 80,000 crore during the present fiscal 2023-24
  • It has received orders to the tune of Rs. 8,091 Crore till now in the financial year 2023-24

Bangalore, July 1. Speaking Exclusively to R. Anil Kumar, India Strategic, on the side-lines of “GST Day-2023” Programme organised by Central Tax, Bengaluru, Mr. Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, Chairman & Managing Director, BEL, said, the company targets to achieve orders to the tune of Rs.80,000crore during the present fiscal 2023-24, as against Rs. 60,000 crore, it achieved during the financial year 2022-23. This is an increase of Rs. 20,000 crore as compared to last year and is inclusive of both domestic and international orders, Srivastava, stated.

He said Bharat Electronics (BEL) has achieved a turnover of about Rs. 17300 crore during the financial year 2022-23, against the previous year’s turnover of Rs. 15,044 crore, thereby registering a 15% on Year-on-Year basis.

BEL’s Order Book as on 1 April 2023, was around Rs. 60,500 crore. Some of the major orders acquired the year were Himashakti, medium power radar (Arudhra), air defence control & reporting system (Akashteer), Lynx U2 systemsEW suite for MLH upgrade, DR118 for Su-30, weapon locating radar (WLR), SARANG ESM etc., BEL CMD stated.

Some of the major projects that were executed by the navratna defence PSU during FY 2022-23 were long-range surface-to-air missile (LRSAM) systems, Akash missile systems, SATCOM network, command & control systems,various radars, electronic warfare systems, communication equipment, coastal surveillance system, electro-optic systems, fire control systems, home land security systems, smart city projects and so on.

BEL achieved Export sales of around US$ 46.5 Million during FY 2022-23against the previous year’s export of US$ 33.3 Million registering a growth of 40%.

Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, said: “BEL continues to focus on research &development through in-house efforts and collaboration with DRDO, academia & other Industry partners.

One such partnership was entered into recently, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a multi-Unit, multi- technology, multi-product Navratna Defence PSU, and HFCL Limited (HFCL), a leading technology enterprise and provider of next-generation communication products.

A two-year, non-exclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to leverage the strengths and capabilities of both the organisations and partner to indigenously develop and deploy emerging technologies and technical solutions to address the requirements of Defence, Telecom and Railway sectors.

This strategic MoU is envisaged to give a boost to the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative and go a long way in realising the Government’s vision of a digital India, Srivastava said.

Make in India initiatives, indigenisation, outsourcing to Indian private industry, procurement from MSMEs & GeMprocurement continue to top our priority list.

BEL will continue to explore new growth opportunities through export initiatives, diversification, capability enhancement, competitiveness and modernisation.”

Navratna PSU BEL is a multi-product, multi-technology, multi-Unit conglomerate which designs, manufactures and supplies products and systems in a wide variety of fields including radars, missile systems, military communications, naval systems, electronic warfare & avionics, C4I systems electro optics, tank electronics & gun/weapon system upgrades, and electronic fuses in the defence segment.

Stating that all defence companies are putting their heart-and-soul in protecting the Country, Srivastava said, Bharat Electronics stands in the forefront in this endeavour by taking Mission-mode projects in all the 3-defence sectors, the Army, Navy and the Air force, thereby ensuring that the country is fully protected.
