Passing out Parade of Aeronautical Engineers

Kochi. 30 Officers including 02 Coast Guard and 06 International Officers successfully passed out from Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology (NIAT) at Naval Base, Kochi after completion of Air Engineering and Air Electrical Officers specialisation course on 07 Jan 17. The passing out parade was reviewed by Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni, VSM, Chief of Staff of Southern Naval Command (SNC) while Commodore Sanjeev Dureja, Director NIAT, conducted the parade.

Lieutenant Bipin Kumar Sethy and Sub Lieutenant VK Singh were awarded Trophies for standing first in overall order of merit amongst Air Engineering and Air Electrical Officers respectively. Director General Coast Guard trophy for best all round officer of the course was awarded to Lieutenant Akhil RS. Venduruthy Shield was awarded to Lieutenant Commander Tammam Fazal of Bangladesh Navy, Lieutenant BK Sethy and Sub Lieutenant Aditya Kumar for Best Air Technical Project.

Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni, VSM while congratulating award winners in his address, highlighted that Naval Aviation has evolved over the last 6 decades to become a major force to reckon, and with the induction of state of the art flying machines, like MiG 29K, Boeing P8I, Hawk AJT, operationalisation of INS Vikramaditya and likely induction of LCA (Navy) and MRH. The Admiral also lauded the efforts of NIAT for ensuring continued high standards of excellence in aviation professional training.

The officers underwent 52 weeks of intensive training in advanced aeronautic subjects besides practical training on various types of aircraft as part of the course. The officers have been appointed to frontline squadrons at air stations and on completion of On Job Training (OJT) would be eligible for award of M Tech degree under the aegis of Cochin University of Science and Technology.

Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology is the largest Aeronautical Training Establishment in the country and is recognized as “Centre for Aeronautical Science and Technology” by Cochin University of Science and Technology. It conducts aircraft type training on 11 types of aircraft.
