Sigma Advanced Systems, Indrajaal forge strategic partnership for indigenous counter-drone technologies

Hyderabad, February 4. Sigma Advanced Systems has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with Indrajaal Drone Defence to supply mission-critical radar and electronic warfare subsystems that will form the technological backbone of Indrajaal’s counter-drone solutions. The collaboration is expected to translate into contracts worth around Rs. 250 crore in the first year, reflecting growing demand for advanced counter-UAS capabilities.

Under the agreement, Sigma will be the exclusive supplier of key radar, sensing, jamming and spoofing subsystems, which Indrajaal will integrate across its counter-drone platforms. Beyond the domestic market, the partnership is also expected to open international opportunities for Indrajaal through Sigma’s established European operations via Nasmyth, enabling access to the European Union and NATO defence ecosystem.

The collaboration brings together Sigma’s three decades of defence electronics engineering and manufacturing experience with Indrajaal’s system integration and deployment expertise. Together, the two companies aim to create a fully indigenous counter-drone technology stack anchored in advanced radar, sensing and electronic warfare systems.

Founded in 1994, Sigma Advanced Systems has built an integrated defence electronics and systems manufacturing capability spanning concept design, embedded and real-time software, environmental qualification, high-reliability manufacturing and lifecycle support. Its technologies are already deployed across several frontline Indian defence platforms, including missile programmes such as NGARM, ASTRA, AKASH, LRSAM and MRSAM, as well as avionics systems for aircraft like the Su-30, Hawk-132 and military helicopters.

Sigma’s naval and submarine portfolio includes torpedo control electronics, power distribution systems, naval antennas and LiDAR-based sensing solutions, while its tactical reconnaissance radars and low-flying air target detection systems form a core layer of India’s emerging counter-UAS and border surveillance architecture.

As part of the partnership, Sigma will remain responsible for the design, development and evolution of the core subsystems, while Indrajaal focuses on platform integration, deployment and field operations. Industry sources note that only a handful of private Indian firms possess the capability to design and manufacture defence-grade radars and electronic warfare systems, placing Sigma among a small, specialised group.

Commenting on the agreement, Sigma Advanced Systems CEO Sunil Kalidindi said the partnership reflects a shift towards IP-led, system-critical defence technologies. Indrajaal Co-Founder and CEO Kiran Raju said Sigma’s in-house radar and electronic warfare capabilities would be a key advantage as Indrajaal scales deployments for defence forces and critical infrastructure.

The partnership is expected to accelerate the deployment of counter-drone systems in India while strengthening indigenous capabilities in radar and electronic warfare at a time when such technologies are becoming central to modern battlefield and infrastructure secur
