TDK Ventures invests in Mixx Technologies to accelerate deployment of breakthrough AI Optical Interconnect Platform

  • Mixx Technologies is the innovator behind high-performance, system-scale optical connectivity for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure

  • Mixx Technologies HBxIO™ silicon-integrated optical engine bridges the compute demands of the back-end and front-end networks with unprecedented speed and reliability

  • TDK Ventures invested in Mixx’s $33-million Series A funding round to accelerate in its product development, expand its global footprint, and scale its R&D centers

Bengaluru, December 1, 2025. TDK Corporation announced that its corporate venture-capital subsidiary, TDK Ventures, Inc., is investing in Mixx Technologies, Inc., a pioneer in next-generation optical interconnect solutions. This investment will be used to accelerate Mixx’s breakthrough connectivity platform designed to eliminate the data bottlenecks limiting the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High-Performance Computing (HPC).

San Jose, CA-based Mixx Technologies is redefining AI infrastructure with its system-level optical interconnects. Its core innovation, the HBxIO™ optical engine, is a co-packaged optics (CPO) solution that enables scale-up optical connectivity for AI inference workloads. The engine is built from a system-level, rack-to-chip, design philosophy that merges photonics and advanced packaging to optimize performance, power, latency, and reliability at the datacenter level. Mixx has differentiated itself from its competitors by enabling switchless GPU clusters, resulting in a highly parallelized AI compute experience.

TDK Ventures took part in its $33 million Series A funding round, which was led by ICM HPQC Fund. Other investors include SystemIQ Capital, Applied Ventures, and others. The oversubscribed round reflects strong investor confidence in Mixx’s breakthrough approach and validates its system-level methodology and helps accelerate the deployment of its platform to support even the most ambitious AI workloads globally.

“Mixx Technologies exemplifies the kind of deep-tech innovation that advances not just a single product, but the health and evolution of the entire AI compute ecosystem,” said Nicolas Sauvage, President of TDK Ventures. “We back visionary entrepreneurs who are solving global challenges through groundbreaking deep technology, and Mixx’s optical engine—with its unprecedented ultra-high radix—embodies that spirit. Its systems-first design bridges the physical and digital worlds, substantially flattening scale-up networking to enable the next generation of highly parallelized, low-latency AI clusters. We’re proud to support a team that is building foundational technology to make large-scale AI infrastructure more efficient, interconnected, and sustainable—amplifying its ripple effects from smarter datacenters to responsible compute growth for the next generation of AI applications.”

Mixx Technologies was founded by domain experts Vivek Raghuraman (CEO) and Rebecca K. Schaevitz, Ph.D. (Chief Product Officer). The co-founders are recognized leaders from the Broadcom CPO team, bringing decades of experience in developing interconnect platforms from major companies including Rockley Photonics, Intel, and Corning, and have successfully brought multiple next-generation interconnect products to high-volume deployment.

“We are on a mission to enable cost-effective scaling, delivering higher performance per dollar per watt for sustainable compute connectivity,” said Raghuraman. “The path to continued AI growth lies in a holistic system transformation driven by open standards that make data movement reliable and efficient. We are energizing the future of technology, building the foundation for the AI-driven world of tomorrow. Our innovative optical engine platform makes this possible by unlocking unprecedented performance and ensuring that AI workloads can scale beyond the limitations of today’s architecture.”

TDK Ventures is committed to finding and scaling technologies on the frontiers of innovation, whose contributions have the potential to build a better, brighter future for all of humanity.
