Tembo Global Industries Forms Strategic Joint Venture with JR-UAV Europe and JR PROPO Japan to Advance Indigenous UAV Manufacturing in India

Tembo Group announces a landmark strategic joint venture with JR-UAV Europe S.r.l. (Italy) and JR PROPO (Japan) to establish an advanced ecosystem for technology transfer, localisation and manufacturing of next-generation Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and autonomous systems in India.

The strategic collaboration brings together Japanese innovation, European aerospace engineering and Indian manufacturing excellence to build mission-ready UAV platforms for defence, surveillance, logistics and industrial applications. The initiative reinforces India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by enabling indigenous production of globally benchmarked UAV technologies while creating a strong export-oriented manufacturing base.

Under the partnership, global technologies spanning UAV platform design, autonomous flight systems, mission integration, flight electronics, servo actuators, telemetry, composite airframe technologies and propulsion systems will be industrialised and manufactured in India. The association also leverages the expertise of leading global technology partners across Japan, Europe, the United States and the Netherlands, creating a comprehensive technology ecosystem capable of delivering complete UAV solutions for domestic and international markets.

The venture aims to strengthen India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities through technology transfer, engineering excellence, local production, supply chain development and skill creation. By combining international technological expertise with India’s manufacturing strengths, the partnership seeks to deliver high-quality, mission-critical UAV systems while supporting long-term capability building within the country.

The initiative aligns with Tembo Global Industries’ strategic diversification into the defence manufacturing sector and reflects the Company’s commitment to becoming a significant contributor to India’s rapidly growing aerospace and defence ecosystem.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Sanjay J. Patel, Managing Director, Tembo Global Industries Limited, said: “This strategic joint venture marks a defining milestone in Tembo Global Industries’ journey towards becoming a key contributor to India’s defence and aerospace manufacturing ecosystem. By bringing together the technological excellence of JR PROPO Japan, the advanced aerospace engineering capabilities of JR-UAV Europe and our manufacturing expertise in India, we are creating a strong foundation for indigenous production of next-generation UAV systems. Our vision is not merely to manufacture drones but to build a globally competitive technology ecosystem that enables innovation, strengthens national capabilities, supports the Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and positions India as an export hub for advanced autonomous systems. We believe this collaboration will accelerate technology transfer, generate high-value employment, enhance engineering capabilities and deliver world-class, mission-ready solutions for both Indian and international markets.”

The partnership is expected to accelerate the localisation of advanced UAV technologies while promoting innovation, secure supply chains, intellectual property protection and engineering excellence. With manufacturing in India and support from global technology leaders, JR-UAV Limited aims to serve defence forces, government agencies and international customers with reliable, high-performance autonomous systems designed to meet future operational requirements.
