Tembo subsidiary gets Home Ministry nod to manufacture ammunition, enters defence production
Mumbai, April 15. Tembo Global Industries Limited has received a major regulatory boost for its defence ambitions after its subsidiary, Tembo Classic Engineering Private Limited, secured a licence from the Ministry of Home Affairs to manufacture ammunition of various calibres.
The approval marks a significant step in the company’s expansion into the defence and security manufacturing space. With the licence in place, the subsidiary is now authorised to begin ammunition production in line with existing legal and regulatory requirements.
Tembo Classic Engineering, formerly known as Tembo Defence Products, is expected to commence commercial manufacturing as per its planned timeline. The development aligns with the company’s stated aim of contributing to India’s push for self-reliance in defence production under initiatives such as ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-reliant India) and ‘Make in India’.
Sanjay J Patel, Managing Director of Tembo Global Industries, described the licence as a landmark moment for the group, saying it validates the company’s capabilities and strengthens its commitment to supporting the country’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. He said the company looks forward to beginning production and offering reliable, high-quality solutions to the defence and security sector.
The company believes the move will open up new opportunities in both domestic and international defence markets, while also supporting its long-term growth strategy.
Founded in 2010, Tembo Global Industries operates in the industrial manufacturing sector, producing and assembling metal components for pipe support systems, fasteners, anchors, HVAC, anti-vibration systems and equipment used across industrial, commercial, utility and OEM installations.
