Three generations, One Historic Feat
Retired DIG and family set world record at Everest Base Camp
New Delhi, January 29. In an awe-inspiring display of resilience and adventure, 77-year-old Krishna Saroop Sood, a retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) etched his name into history – not alone, but alongside his family. On May 9, 2024, this remarkable trio of generations successfully trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp (EBC) from the Nepal side, setting a world record in the process!
According to a post on the BSF’s X handle, Sood was joined on this daring expedition by his two married daughters, aged 50 and 43, and his 16-year-old granddaughter. Together, they became the first family in the world to reach Everest Base Camp spanning three generations – a feat officially recognised by both the Worldwide Book of Records and the India Book of Records.
Their journey wasn’t just about breaking records; it was about proving that age is no barrier when determination, teamwork, and a passion for adventure take the lead. The breathtaking trek tested their endurance, willpower, and unity, making their success all the more inspiring.
This achievement stands as a testament to courage, perseverance, and the boundless spirit of exploration. As we celebrate their triumph, their story serves as a beacon of motivation for adventurers and dreamers across the world.
“Let’s take a moment to honor the incredible achievement of Sh. Krishna Saroop Sood and his family!” the BSF stated on its X post.
