GE Aerospace Appoints Shilpa Gupta as Chief Technology Officer, India

January 7, 2026. GE Aerospace has appointed Shilpa Gupta as the new Chief Technology Officer for GE Aerospace in India and the Site Leader for the John F. Welch Technology Centre (JFWTC) in Bengaluru. In this role, Shilpa will lead the company’s engineering, research, and digital technology teams at Bengaluru to accelerate innovation, scale advanced technologies, and strengthen regional impact to advance GE Aerospace’s purpose of inventing the future of flight, lifting people up, and bringing them home safely. Shilpa joins GE Aerospace from GE Vernova, where she led the Gas Power engineering team in India across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Noida, and served as JFWTC Site Leader for GE Vernova.

Shilpa succeeds Alok Nanda, who has taken a global role as General Manager of Services Engineering at GE Aerospace, focusing on enhancing customer outcomes, driving operational efficiency, and positioning the company for next-generation growth.

Future of flight

India is central to GE Aerospace’s global innovation engine, with Bengaluru teams advancing next-generation propulsion and services technologies to meet customer needs. Engineers and researchers are helping mature *CFM RISE program and hybrid-electric technologies, supporting dust ingestion testing and driving services innovations like 360 Foam Wash to improve efficiency and durability in severe operating environments like South Asia. Also, Bengaluru’s digital teams are transforming engine maintenance with AI and digital twins for better inspection accuracy, faster turnaround time and improved time on wing.

Talent development

This September, the GE Aerospace Foundation, in partnership with United Way, launched Next Engineers at Bengaluru, the four-year college and career readiness program. The company’s Edison Engineering Development Program, a two-year rotational program meant to build future engineering leaders, also completed two decades of engineering excellence in India in 2025.

GE Aerospace in India

GE Aerospace has been a partner to India’s aviation industry for over 40 years. 1,400 GE Aerospace and partner engines are in service, powering major Indian airlines. GE Aerospace’s defense engines and systems power Indian Airforce’s Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Mk 1 and helicopters and Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier battleships and frigates. Its Pune manufacturing facility and 13 local India partners are part of the company’s global supply chain. Researchers and engineers at the company’s 25-year-old India technology centre in Bengaluru are building the latest aviation technologies.
