A proud moment for a defence family: Bengaluru youth commissioned in Indian Army, completes tri-services legacy
New Delhi, June 15. In a poignant moment symbolising commitment and legacy, Anmol Navad got commissioned into the Indian Army at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on June 14. The event marked a proud milestone for Air Commodore Vasant Navad of the Indian Air Force, currently posted with the Integrated Defence Staff in Delhi, as he watched his younger son step into military service.
Adding to the significance of the moment, Anmol’s elder brother, Aryan Navad, an officer and naval aviator with the Indian Navy, stood by his side. With Anmol joining the Army, Aryan serving in the Navy, and their father in the Air Force, the Navads now represent a rare and complete legacy of service across all three branches of India’s armed forces.
Speaking to The Times of India, the newly commissioned Lieutenant Anmol Navad said, “These two individuals constantly inspired me to do something meaningful for the nation – something unique and challenging. My father is my source of inspiration, and my brother is a rock-solid guiding pillar. Defence is where I truly belong.”
Reflecting on the unique contribution each family member makes to national security, Air Commodore Navad highlighted the importance of coordination among the services. Citing the example of Operation Sindoor, he emphasised that modern military success depends on joint operations across domains – land, air, sea, and beyond.
“Modern warfare has evolved into a multi-domain operation – whether it’s space, cyber or psychological warfare, success now hinges on superior information and strategic integration,” he said.
