Paras Defence secures Rs 71.68 cr order from DRDO for Optronic Periscopes

November 17, 2025. Paras Defence and Space Technologies Limited announced the receipt of a whopping Rs 71.68 crore order from Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO). The order entailing the supply of two Optronic Periscopes for submarine applications is to be executed by September 2026.

Optronic Periscopes are critical components in modern submarines, providing enhanced surveillance and targeting capabilities, which bolsters the operational effectiveness of the Indian Navy. This contract underscores Paras Defence & Space Technologies’ commitment to advancing India’s defence capabilities through indigenous technology development.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the collaboration, Munjal Shah, Managing Director of Paras Defence & Space Technologies, said, “We are honoured to have partnered with DRDO in this endeavour. This order not only reflects our technical expertise but also aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, promoting self-reliance in defence manufacturing.”

Paras Defence & Space Technologies has a longstanding history of delivering high-quality defence and space engineering solutions. With over four decades of experience, the company has been at the forefront of developing technologies for rockets, missiles, naval systems and electronic warfare, among others. This latest order from DRDO further solidifies Paras Defence & Space Technologies’ position as a trusted partner in India’s defence sector.

The development of advanced optronic periscope systems within India carries strategic value as it reduces dependence on imported high-precision naval technologies and strengthens the country’s sovereign defence ecosystem. Indigenous capability in such niche electro-optical systems ensures faster customisation for operational needs, strengthens supply chain resilience and enhances long-term maintainability for the Indian Navy. As global demand for next-generation submarine technologies rises, domestic expertise in these systems positions India to emerge as a competitive and self-reliant contributor in the maritime defence domain.

The company boasts advanced machinery and a skilled workforce, which enables it to handle turnkey projects of varying sizes. Paras Defence & Space Technologies’ focus on research and development has led to numerous innovations, positioning it as an Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured (IDDM) company in the Indian defence industry.

Looking ahead, Paras Defence & Space Technologies is focused on advancing its electro-optical and optronic product portfolio to meet emerging requirements of next-generation naval platforms. The company is investing in deeper R&D integration, enhanced sensor technologies and expanded manufacturing capabilities to progressively indigenise more complex subsystems. With this order reinforcing its technical standing, Paras Defence & Space Technologies aims to build a pipeline of future-ready solutions that strengthen India’s underwater domain awareness and support the long-term modernisation of the country’s naval assets.
