Passing out Parade of the First Batch of Agniveers from ASC Centre North and the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental held in Bengaluru and Belgaum

Bangalore, August 5. Under the Agnipath Scheme approved by the Government of India on June 14, 2022, for recruitment of soldiers into the Armed Forces, 113 Agniveers were trained at ASC Centre (North) and 111 Agniveers from the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Belagavi, were attested after their vigorous training for 31 weeks, into the Armed Forces.

ASC Centre North, Bengaluru

The flagship programme of the Government of India, Agnipath, today witnessed a total of 224 trained personnel being inducted to the Armed Forces from the State of Karnataka.

If one could remember, a total of 756 Agniveers, who had undergone training at ASC Centre and College, in Bengaluru, were inducted into the Armed Forces, on August 4.

The Occasion witnessed the ceremonial attestation parade with full Military honours and fanfare.

ASC Centre North, Bengaluru

Army Service Corps Centre (North) is a premier Institute, imparting training to Animal and Store handlers, Mechanical Transport, Drivers and various tradesmen, to support all Army Service Corps Units of the Indian Army.

The Training of the First Batch of Agniveers commenced from June1, 2023, out of which 85 Agniveers (MT) passed out from the Centre, on August 5, 2023.

Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, Belagavi

Brigadier Tejpal Singh Mann, Centre Commandant, Army Service Corps Centre (North), reviewing the impressive Passing out Parade urged the incumbents to imbibe the ethos of Imandhar, Wafadhar and Bahaduri.

The magnificent ceremony was attended by the proud parents of Agniveers, and they were honoured with the prestigious Gaurav Padak instituted by the Indian Army, as a token of recognition for their noble gesture of encouraging their wards to join the Indian Armed Forces, in Service of the Nation.

In a similar function held at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Belagavi, Maj. Gen. Guraya, VSM, Commander, Junior Leaders Wing, reviewing the Parade reminded the newly inducted Agniveers of the rich heritage and glory of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, as one of the oldest Infantry Regiments of the Indian Army.

The General also stressed upon the importance of discipline and physical fitness in a soldier’s life.

He exuded confidence that the trainees from the Regiment would go a long way in serving the nation and would stand in good stead to brighten their future.

The Reviewing Officer awarded meritorious Agniveers for excelling in different spheres of training.

The attestation parade concluded with a solemn laying wreath ceremony at the Sharqat War Memorial, to the brave hearts of the Regiment, by the Reviewing Officer and Agniveers.
