Army Commander Southern Command visits Sector Defence Industries and Premier Academia in Bengaluru
Bangalore, June 27. Technology has been the prime foundation of Military modernisation throughout history and it drives changes in warfare more than any other factor.
Developments in technology contribute to an increasing array of strategic capabilities for our defence forces and new technologies can provide the much desired edge to an army over its adversary.
To bolster the absorption of technology in Indian Army, Lt. Gen. A K Singh, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, visited Industries from the Indian Defence sector and premier Academia in Bengaluru.
The visit was coordinated by the Regional Technology Node Bengaluru (RTN-B) under the aegis of ASC Centre and College Bengaluru.
Inaugurated in 2022, RTN-B is the outreach arm of Army Design Bureau (ADB) of the Indian Army, for the States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The Army Commander visited SSS Defence Alpha Design Technologies Pvt. Ltd., New Space Research and Technologies Pvt. Ltd and Microsoft Technology Centre.
He also visited the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), and IISC based AI and Robotics Technology Park (ARTPARK).
Gen. A K Singh brought out that one of the key elements in achieving self-sufficiency in Defence Sector and defence superiority is by technological dominance, and, R&D plays a major role towards ushering in innovative technologies.
The path towards technological prowess of the Country is being paved by the Government’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, which is benefitting all sectors.
It is the need of the hour that the Indian Army looks at the Indian defence industry as a stake holder in evolution of innovation and indigenisation.
The Army Commander also visited the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence (CSE) which is India’s premier integrated multi-sport complex.CSE provides top notch facilities for athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts.
Contribution of Indian Army towards sports has bestowed the nation with some of the most famed sports personalities. Southern Command has always been the torch bearer for sports excellence, and the Army Commander expressed confidence that the alliance of Indian Army with sports will continue forever to bring glory to the Country.
