Bust of Marshal Arjan Singh unveiled to mark 106th birth anniversary
NEW DELHI. In a solemn tribute to one of India’s most iconic military leaders, a bust of Marshal of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Arjan Singh was unveiled at Astha Senior Citizen Home in Tughlakabad, Delhi, on the occasion of his 106th birth anniversary.
The ceremony was led by Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Maintenance Command, and Air Marshal Jagjeet Singh (Retd), Senior Vice President of the Air Force Association. Also present were Ritu Garg, President of the Air Force Family Welfare Association (Retired), along with Indian Air Force veterans and personnel from Air Force Station, Tughlakabad.
The unveiling of the bust served as a powerful homage to the Marshal’s extraordinary service, leadership, and bravery. Attendees reflected on his pivotal role as Chief of the Air Staff during the 1965 Indo-Pak war, particularly his decisive air strategy that turned the tide of the conflict in India’s favour by halting the Pakistani armoured advance in the Akhnoor sector.
Arjan Singh remains the only officer of the IAF to hold a five-star rank, making him an enduring symbol of excellence and inspiration for generations of air warriors.
Following the ceremony, the AOC-in-C and the AFFWA (R) President engaged with residents of the senior home, inquiring about their well-being. Air Force personnel also connected with veterans who had served alongside Marshal Singh, listening to personal recollections that brought to life the legacy of a national hero.
